CRESCENDO < was a three day studio intensive that explored the transitional nature and time period endemic of incarceration at the St. Louis City Juvenile Detention Center. The project employed conductive and repurposed player piano mechanics, antique musical scrolls, and contemporary studio jewelry practice to incite the development of student concepts through craft objects.

If we’re daring to be operatic about it – like maybe it’s time for us to address critically the fate of our neighborhoods, and those that form our communities (choruses).

And if this is all a principled response to the wider world… we all had better have a foundation.

It’s best we remember… there’s a bureaucracy to opposable thumbs.
